About the Role:
One of my local government clienst is in their search for a skilled and driven Principal Accountant (Housing).
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Financial Accounting Team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in managing the Housing Revenue Account (HRA), capital programmes, and supporting strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:

Preparation of annual HRA and Housing General Fund budgets
*
Monitoring high-risk budgets, including responsive repairs and capital spend
*
Supporting the 30-year HRA financial strategy and long-term forecasting
*
Delivering detailed financial reports to senior management and stakeholders
*
Assisting in year-end reporting, treasury management, and VAT compliance
*
Providing advice and support to cost centre and service managers
*
Ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and Council regulations
What You’ll Bring:
*
AAT qualified (or higher) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in local government finance
*
Strong knowledge of housing finance, budget management, and reporting processes
*
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
*
Experience working across multiple teams and delivering financial insights
*
Ability to produce clear, tailored reports for a variety of audiences
