Main Purpose of Job
The Kitchen Manager / chef is operationally responsible for the running of the kitchen, ensuring food is made promptly and to spec, working to budget/cost control, gross profit margin of dishes, stock-control, hygiene, and, food and safety standards.
We also run a number of events at The Wheelbarrow, so you will be responsible for producing the food for these.

Essential
* Demonstrable experience as a Kitchen Manager / chef.
* Track record of working in restaurants with 100+ covers.
* Strong understanding and appreciation of sourcing top quality ingredients.
* Strong leadership and staff management.
* Strong budget / menu gross profit management.
* Excellent organisation and time management.
* In depth knowledge of hygiene, food and safety standards and allergens.
* Commitment to personal development, research and new techniques/trends.
* Must be a proficient use of MS Office Suite.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities outlined above are to be regarded as broad areas of responsibility and do not necessarily detail all tasks which the post holder may be required to perform.
* Day to day running of Kitchen to ensure that meals are prepared in a timely fashion and to the required quality, and, the right number of staff are on rota.
* Stock control and ordering of supplies.
* Support the business cash flow by keeping stock to a minimum.
* Food waste is kept to a minimum (FIFO, correct storage, temperature control etc).
* Ensures a Food Hygiene rating of 5/5 is obtained and maintained.
* Ensures accurate labelling, and temperature recording of frozen and chilled items.
* Support recruitment of skilled kitchen staff to support operations.
* Training, coaching and mentoring junior kitchen team members.
