Commercial Gas Engineer – Vortex GasJob Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: North West (travel to MOD sites, care homes, pharmaceutical facilities & other commercial premises)
About Us: Vortex Gas is a UK-based commercial mechanical and gas engineering company delivering high-quality services across a range of critical environments. Our clients include MOD sites, care homes, pharmaceutical facilities, local authorities, and commercial businesses. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to join our expanding team.
Role Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, servicing, and compliance testing on commercial heating and hot-water systems. You will work across highly regulated and sensitive sites, so professionalism, reliability and attention to detail are essential.
Responsibilities: Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on commercial heating systems. Diagnose and repair faults in boilers, burners, and associated plant. Install, commission and service commercial gas appliances. Complete testing, inspection and certification to industry standards. Maintain accurate job reports and digital records. Follow all security and compliance procedures when working on MOD and pharmaceutical sites. Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota when required. Work collaboratively with contract managers and clients to ensure high service standards.
Key Skills & Requirements: Strong technical competence with commercial gas systems. Practical problem-solving ability with a logical approach. Good communication skills (written & verbal). Ability to work to deadlines without compromising quality. Professional, motivated, and flexible attitude. Computer literate (job management systems, email, basic reporting).
Qualifications/ExperienceEssential: Recognised Commercial Gas qualifications (e.g., CDGA1, CORT1, CIGA1, ICPN1). Full UK Driving Licence. Minimum 1 year commercial experience.
Desirable: Domestic Gas (CCN1). LPG, Catering Gas, or F-Gas. Experience working on MOD, pharmaceutical, healthcare or other regulated sites. xcunqrw
