Overview
Doyon Government Group (DGG) provides design-build and general construction services, including demolition, new construction, renovations, and repairs, for government-owned facilities and military installations nationwide.
The Controller is responsible for managing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the regulations of the FAR and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the federal government contracting and technology industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Manage and perform day-to-day accounting operations, including:
o Month-end and year-end close processes
o Journal entries, reconciliations, fixed asset management, and lease accounting
o Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements
o Perform comparative analysis to identify variances in financial results from month to month
o Prepare routine financial reports and summaries to help management monitor performance
* Manage and perform tax compliance activities, including:
o Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (sales/use tax, property tax, gross receipts)
o Research local tax rates and requirements for project proposals
o Respond to indirect tax notices and audits
o Coordinate with corporate tax department and external firms
* Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, and internal control standards
* Manage and assist with preparation, maintenance and tracking of the annual budget
* Update budget worksheets and support ongoing improvements to budget tracking and reporting
* Manage annual audits and liaise with external auditors
* Assist with insurance renewal process by gathering information and coordinating documentation
* Maintain productive relationships with vendors, banks, and insurance providers
* Supervise and develop accounting staff, ensuring adherence to policies and deadlines
* Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury functions as needed
* Collaborate with management to ensure compliance with state and local regulations
* Oversee the activities of the DGG Accounting and Finance Department
* Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others
* Mentor and coach direct reports, delegating work streams effectively and holding team members to a high standard of excellence

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
* Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting
* Minimum 10 years related progressive accounting experience, including 5 years in a leadership role
* Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
* Prior experience with GAAP compliance, internal controls and audit coordination
* Experience with multi-state tax compliance and SALT concepts
* Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes
* Proficiency in ERP systems (Vista by Viewpoint preferred) and advanced Excel skills
* Strong verbal and written communication
Preferred:
* Graduate degree in relevant field
* CPA designation
* Experience in construction industry and federal contracting environment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of the work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to forty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Occasional travel required.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range for this position is $150,000.00-$200, per year. Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location. Employees are eligible to enroll in medical, vision, dental, flexible spending, employee assistance program, group and voluntary life and disability insurance and 401(k) retirement plan. Paid Time Off, 10 paid holidays, 5 bereavement and 10 jury duty paid leave.
