Job Advert
We are looking for a Support Worker to join our service based in Easingwold on a permanent, full-time basis (37.5 hours per week). Shifts will be worked across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
We are looking to grow our team of dedicated, caring and enthusiastic Support Workers to enable the individuals we support to live the lives they choose.
If you enjoy supporting someone who loves being active, you may be well suited to our 1:1 support service, where youll be supporting a young man who enjoys a different activity each week. Whether its football, swimming or making the most of his National Trust tickets, this gentleman has endless energy and a real passion for fun the Support Worker were looking for will need to match that enthusiasm (or better yet, top it!).
If youre looking for the opportunity to support individuals to develop the life skills they need to live independently, we also have a service that could be a great fit. Supporting our lovely ladies in their home, youll be alongside them as they go about their day lending a helping hand in the kitchen, supporting someone out for a coffee, and most importantly, making sure the milk is picked up on the way home. This service is ideal for someone who enjoys seeing how small moments can make a big difference to someones independence.
Some of the people we support only require verbal prompts for personal care, while others may need more hands-on support. Full training and shadowing will be provided for each service.
As a Support Worker with Mencap, we understand that flexibility is important for both you and the service. While we do require flexibility across the day depending on the service youre matched with, we also understand that you have a life outside of work. We do our very best to plan rotas that allow you to manage personal commitments, whether thats a dentist appointment or something else that comes up.
As each service is different, shift patterns will vary. As a general guide, some day shifts may start from 7:00am or 9:00am and finish between 9:00pm and 10:00pm, often split into two shifts. Certain services may also include sleep-in or waking night shifts.
You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £64.20 for any sleep-in shifts worked. Please note that sleep-in payments are non-contractual .
What does a Support Worker do?
