* As the Export Control Specialist, you will be responsible to ensure LRQA complies with export control requirements. The purpose of the Export Control Specialist is to ensure that the company's operations, related to inspection of equipment used in nuclear power stations, across multiple countries, comply with all relevant export control regulations
* The role is responsible for managing and obtaining the necessary export licenses and authorizations, as well assessing documents and applying export control codes to ensure document distribution is in compliance with export laws and regulations in; UK, USA, EC and other countries such as Japan
* You will work closely with the technical and administrative teams to support document coding, coordination, and distribution of documentation subject to export control restrictions, and ensure compliance with export control requirements outlined within the company's Quality Management System


Key Responsibilities

* Ensure compliance with applicable export control laws across relevant jurisdictions, maintaining awareness of regulatory changes and geopolitical developments that may affect risk or licensing requirements
* Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Internal Compliance Program (ICP), policies, procedures, and related QMS elements for export control
* Own and maintain technology/commodity classifications; determine licensing/authorisation needs for company activities, including inspection of equipment used in nuclear power station
* Manage the full lifecycle of export licences and authorisations (applications, amendments, renewals, and closures) across relevant countrie
* Maintain audit ready, accurate records for licences, classifications, screenings, and export transactions; keep an organised export tracker (e.g., by contract
* Ensure correct supporting documentation (e.g., Letters of Authority, end use/end user statements) is obtained, validated, and retained
* Ensure documents subject to export control are correctly coded, handled, stored, and distributed; perform regular document control audits and coordinate with technical/administrative team
* Produce required monthly and annual export control reports, including those tied to licence conditions
* Develop, deliver, and maintain export control training and awareness programmes across the organisation. Act as the internal subject matter expert, advising leadership and providing day to day guidance on export control risks and compliance obligations
* Monitor organisational compliance performance; review and improve dashboards/tools to track licensing timelines, KPIs, audit findings, and streamline legislative reporting
* Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and legal counsel on complex licensing, classification, or jurisdictional issues.
* Act as the client focal point for documentation subject to export control; coordinate and attend export control meetings with Clients, Project Management, Administration, and Quality teams
* Support tender/sales activities by assessing export control implications for bids, tenders, new products, and market
* Oversee and optimise export control systems and tools; drive automation and continuous improvement of export control processes
* Coordinate with IT to ensure secure handling, storage, transmission, and digital access controls for controlled technical data (e.g., permissions, encryption, data hosting rules)
* Conduct internal export control audits to verify adherence and identify gaps; support preparation for external audits and inspection
* Lead root cause analysis for non conformances and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
* Assess and monitor export control compliance of third parties (e.g., partners, suppliers) and manage related due diligence
* Define and manage internal escalation procedures and support crisis management planning/response for export control incidents (e.g., inadvertent transfers, sudden regulatory changes


Key health & safety responsibilities

* Eliminate or minimise employee exposure to risks by regularly reviewing the health and safety risk register, applying appropriate controls, communicating results of risk assessments, and ensuring health and safety is considered in the planning and execution of all LRQA activitie
* s.Manage your own, and your team’s, compliance with health and safety rules, instructions, systems and legal requirements to ensure employees are suitably trained and adequate resources are available to work safely


Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements

* Candidates require experience with Export control legislation definition ‘Technology’ – Ideally within the Civil Nuclear specification
* Proven capability in stakeholder engagement, engaging with other practices including communications, technology and change management to enable change success through change awareness and readine
* Good influencing and motivational skills demonstrated through leadership and management or facilitating services to others
* Able to apply the appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of complex problems
* Adaptable and well organised with a practical minded approach and the ability to work to tight deadlin
* Possessing good communication skills, including the ability to communicate the technical to the non technical, having the ability to adapt and work to tight deadlines.
