Contract Type: Permanent About us: Sizewell C is a large, planned nuclear power station being built on the Suffolk coast in the UK. The project is expected to generate 3.2 GW of clean electricity, enough for 6 million homes. This is a significant part of the UK's strategy for clean energy and energy security, with the goal of providing reliable, low-carbon power and supporting economic growth. SZC is a major project opportunity for the Martin Group of Companies and is being delivered through HW Martin Traffic Management. Job Purpose To operate and maintain road sweeping vehicles to ensure that internal haul roads, public access roads, site peripheral roads, and other paved or surfaced carparks/routes at Sizewell C remain clean, safe, and free from debris, spillages or hazards. Contribute to environmental management and site safety by reducing dust, maintaining drainage channels and supporting traffic management onsite. Job Responsibilities (not exhaustive): * Drive a road sweeper vehicle (appropriate size/capacity for site / public roads) along scheduled and ad-hoc routes across the Sizewell C site. * Perform pre‑start and daily safety checks on the sweeper vehicle: tyre condition, brakes, lights, warning equipment, brushes / vacuum / sweep mechanism, water / dust suppression systems. * Carry out minor maintenance and cleaning of the sweeper (e.g. cleaning brushes, emptying bins or hoppers, wash‑downs) and report major defects to maintenance team. * Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and radiation protection protocols that apply on site (PPE, traffic management, site induction, etc.). * Coordinate with site traffic management and site operations teams to ensure safe operation around other plant, vehicles, personnel. * Clean up hazards, spills or materials that may obstruct routes, and ensure swept debris is disposed of or collected according to site environmental procedures. * Maintain logs, route sheets or digital records for swept routes, vehicle checks, incident or defect reporting. * Occasionally assist with other site maintenance, liaison with site services, or support tasks within transport & logistics, as required. * Be flexible on shift pattern / hours to meet site needs (could include early mornings, late nights, weekends, overtime as required). Skills and Experience: * Valid UK driving license (appropriate category; depending on vehicle size, possibly LGV / HGV). * Experience operating road sweeping machines or similar heavy plant / specialist vehicle. * Competency in vehicle checks and basic maintenance. * Clear understanding of health & safety, environmental compliance, and traffic management on construction / infrastructure sites. * Good communication skills, able to follow instructions, report issues promptly. * Physical fitness to handle manual aspects (clearing debris, manually handling or cleaning parts, etc.) * Experience working in construction / civil engineering / large scale infrastructure projects is desirable. * Assist with winter maintenance duties.
