The Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll play a key part in delivering a high‑quality, customer‑focused catering and hospitality service within our Extra Care schemes. The role supports food preparation, mealtime service and front‑of‑house delivery, ensuring residents receive nutritious meals in a warm and welcoming environment. You'll also help maintain safe, hygienic and efficient kitchen operations while contributing to a positive, resident‑centred experience.
What You'll Be Doing
Assisting with the preparation and plating of meals to support smooth, efficient service.
Acting as the main front‑of‑house presence — welcoming residents, helping them to their seats and supporting meal delivery within the scheme and to customers' homes.
Preparing simple meals independently (such as breakfasts, snacks and evening teas) when the Chef Manager or Supervisor is not on site.
Ensuring meals meet individual dietary and nutritional needs.
Responding to customer feedback and escalating issues where needed.
Maintaining clean, safe and organised kitchen and front‑of‑house areas.
Completing food safety documentation accurately, including temperature checks, labelling and cleaning schedules.
Following food hygiene, health & safety, COSHH and infection control requirements at all times.

Essential:
Experience in a customer service environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
A team player who works well with others.
Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and work under pressure.
Commitment to diversity and willingness to work flexibly across a 7‑day rota.
