The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer who can take ownership of our codebase and infrastructure, while collaborating across product, marketing, and sales to continuously improve the platform.
This role replaces our outgoing engineering lead and will be the most senior technical person in-house. You'll be accountable for quality, performance, and delivery - while working with a trusted network of outsourced developers to ship features fast.
We don't expect you to have all the answers on day one, but we do expect you to take the lead, communicate clearly, and figure things out quickly.

Key Responsibilities
VLead the build, maintenance, and evolution of our core platform (Laravel backend, React frontend)
VOwn our CI/CD pipeline, QA workflows, and deployment process (staging + production)
VMonitor and improve infrastructure (AWS, GitHub, Docker, Mailgun, etc.)
VSet engineering standards and ensure code quality across the stack
VManage and collaborate with outsourced developers
VContribute to product roadmap discussions and make technical recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
VWrite well-structured, testable, performant code - and ship it quickly
VAct as a technical sounding board to the co-founder and cross-functional team
VTriage and execute hotfixes, lead platform QA, and manage release cycles

What We’re Looking For
VExpert-level knowledge of PHP (Laravel)
VProficiency in React and frontend migration from Blade
VSolid infrastructure/devops experience: AWS, Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD
VExperience building and scaling web applications in fast-moving environments
VStrong understanding of web security, RESTful APIs, and database management
Mindset & Experience
VProven success in startups or agency environments – you’re used to delivering under pressure
VHigh agency, self-starting, resourceful – you ship with what you have, not what you wish for
VComfortable working across disciplines – from designers to marketers to product
VConfident communicator – can explain trade-offs to non-technical teammates
VFast mover – willing to iterate, test, and improve continuously
VClear prioritiser – knows how to balance speed with quality, without hand-holding

Experience leading or mentoring remote teams
