My client are a leading designer and manufacturing of packaging for the UK retail market. For the last 4 decades, this business has been at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and manufacturing processes within their sector. We are looking for an experienced Tool Design Engineer to take ownership of the design, development, and commissioning of thermoformed production tools. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of supervising the Tool Design Team, driving technical excellence, improving processes, and collaborating across departments to ensure high-quality production outcomes. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: * Work alongside Tool Room staff when necessary to support workflow and meet deadlines. * Take ownership of developing approved concepts into fully manufacturable thermoformed production tools. * Lead the standardisation of new and existing tool designs, including auxiliary components. * Research, develop, and improve tooling solutions, materials, and methods. * Challenge costing matrices prior to designing each tool set to identify efficiency improvements. * Specify tooling and accessories to external subcontractors as required. * Troubleshoot new tool commissioning to reduce setup times and minimize downtime. * Ensure all materials and components for tool manufacture and assembly are ordered and delivered on time. * Provide the CNC Depart...
