Position

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Water – Energy and Sustainable Cities Business Line


Location

West Midlands, UK – 4 days in client office and 1 day working from home. Candidates living in the North West area may be considered.


Role Summary

Reporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead for the UK, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will deliver work with water companies or the Environment Agency in the Midlands area. The role offers progression between the UK water, environment and nuclear sectors. You will utilise your major project experience and knowledge to drive efficiencies and effective supply chain engagement and contract management.


Key Responsibilities

* NEC3/4 option A, C and E ECC contract management and administration client side
* Budget control, payment valuation and assisting the PM in payment certification
* Actual cost forecasting and defined cost determination
* Establish and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
* Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
* Pre‑Contract
o Feasibility studies and cost planning
o Preparation of tender documentation
o Evaluation of tenders
o Risk management
* Post‑Contract
o Management and administration of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms
o Cost control and valuation
o Evaluation and negotiation of change orders or variations
o Claims and dispute resolution
o Final accounts and post‑project evaluation


Qualifications

* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying
* Full Membership of a chartered body such as RICS or a substantively progressed route on an approved APC pathway
* A wealth of experience postgraduate in Rail, Nuclear, Water and/or Environment
* Line management and recruitment experience of Quantity Surveyors or Assistant Quantity Surveyors
* CDM regulation knowledge and experience
* Risk management experience
* Valid CSCS card; Water Hygiene card desirable
* Main contractor and/or joint venture experience working client side
* Site presence and co‑location minimum three days a week
* Experienced user of the NEC3‑4 suite of contracts (A‑C‑E mandatory)
