Advert for locum Consultant Haematologist with a specialist interest in Haemoglobinopathy. 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract. Bart’s Health is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated consultant haematologist to join their team. This is a 10PA 6-month fixed term post to cover a career break. Clinical activity is based at Royal London Hospital working alongside a team of 4 consultants, 3 CNS and rotational SPRs and SHO. Administrative support will be provided. The Haemoglobinopathy team sits within the wider Clinical Haematology MDT. The post includes 1.0 PA of additional SPA that can be used by the post-holder to develop services in an area of interest. Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include promoting changes to improve delivery of service to patients, attending relevant management meetings, and actively providing evidence-based care. Liaise effectively with General Practitioners, community services, and other healthcare agencies. Participate in Clinical Governance and Audit, and in the Trust’s clinical governance activities to improve quality and standards of clinical services. Participate in strategies to ensure targets are reached and in data collection. Outpatient clinics for patients in the general haematology service based at Whipps Cross Hospital; chemotherapy clinics. Provide evidence-based care for all out-patients and take responsibility for total clinical care of referred patients. Assist with triaging/vetting of general haematology referrals and provide guidance to local GPs. The Haematology team is within the wider MDT structure and interacts with the departmental and service leadership teams.

Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Full and Specialist registration (and with a license to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
 * Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award by date of interview for UK-trained applicants.
 * Evidence of UK‑equivalence for non-UK trained applicants; FRCPath or equivalent; MRCP or equivalent.
Experience
 * Experience in diagnostic and clinical haematology and relevant clinical areas; ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care; experience in clinical audit; research experience and teaching at undergraduate/pg levels.
 * Desirable: experience in clinical trials; resource management; publications.
Knowledge and Skills
 * Experience in management of staff and change; leadership and decision-making; knowledge of clinical governance processes.
Disposition/Interpersonal
 * Ability to work cooperatively in multidisciplinary teams.
Physical requirements
 * Ability to work across sites; occupational health screening post-interview.
