GeoSmart Information is seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Civil Engineering team. The Senior Drainage Engineer’s objective is to project manage and input to drainage design projects and oversee a portfolio of drainage design projects and a wider project team. The role includes responsibility for staff management to help the team meet career goals and business objectives to agreed timeline, quality and budget constraints.
Responsibilities
* Evaluate existing drainage infrastructure, conduct hydrological surveys, and design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
* Produce designs, models, calculations, drawings, and prepare cost estimates; manage project timelines.
* Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and external organizations; present technical information to diverse audiences.
* Ensure designs and implementations comply with relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice (e.g., SuDS Manual, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges).
* Conduct site visits to assess condition and record relevant information to ensure design parameters are achieved and evidence recorded for audit trails and compliance with specification.
* Utilise CAD software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D; employ advanced computer modelling tools for drainage design and analysis.
* Identify and resolve drainage issues, develop innovative solutions, and provide technical support and advice to clients and supply chain partners.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and minimise the environmental impact of drainage works.
* Prepare reports, cost estimates, technical memorandums, and contract documentation.
* Work effectively with other engineers, project managers, and construction professionals.
* Analyse and capture client requirements and the actual product or service that will be delivered.
* Ensure client requirements can be met and write accurate, succinct, and impactful proposals.
* Manage team resourcing and oversee project delivery to time and budget.
* Manage staff development and training.
* Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and address any issues that arise.
* Represent GeoSmart at meetings, conferences, CPD seminars, etc.
* Manage projects, understand required time inputs, and deliver on time and to budget.
Qualifications
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering.
* Chartered engineer status is an advantage but not essential.
* Relevant experience in drainage engineering, including design, project management, and site supervision.
* Proficiency in CAD software, hydrological modelling, and other relevant engineering software.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
* Ability to analyse problems, develop solutions, and implement them effectively.
* Understanding of relevant drainage standards, regulations, and best practices.
