The Role
This Accounts Assistant will be handling the day–to–day financial operations of the business. Construction industry experience is essential, as well as proficiency in Xero, CIS (Construction Industry Scheme), and VAT.
Key Responsibilities
* Processing invoices, payments, and reconciliations using Xero
* Managing CIS submissions and ensuring compliance
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Assisting with payroll and subcontractor payments
* Monitoring accounts payable and receivable
* Supporting the finance team with general bookkeeping and reporting
* Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and HMRC regarding financial queries
* Assisting in month–end financial reporting and reconciliations
Requirements of an Accounts Assistant
* Essential: Experience working in the construction industry
* Proficient in Xero accounting software
* Strong knowledge of CIS and VAT processes
* Experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and financial administration
Skills and Attributes:
* Strong written and verbal communication
* A self–starter – someone who can hit the ground running and manage multiple financial tasks.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* Loyalty and trust.
