Clinical Research Fellow in Stroke Medicine (Fixed Term) (MED243125)

The Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow, within Stroke, AU1 Mental Health & Clinical Neuroscience. You will be based at the QMC, Nottingham University Hospitals and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team coordinating multi-centre UK and international stroke trials. The team are nationally and internationally renowned for their work as Stroke triallists. Clinical research in stroke covers the whole stroke pathway from the management of acute stroke, prevention of stroke recurrence, enhancing recovery (e.g. stem cell mobilisation), and prevention of cognitive decline.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for research: developing objectives and proposals for a project in acute stroke care.
* Plan and conduct work using appropriate methodologies; write up results for publication.
* Coordinate multi-centre UK and international stroke trials as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Contribute to clinical trial recruitment into NIHR Portfolio adopted trials within the stroke service.
* Participate in data analysis (including systematic reviews and meta-analyses), scientific writing (abstracts and academic papers), and preparing grant applications for future studies.
* Answer medical queries associated with active clinical trials within the unit.
Specifically, this post is funded by the National Institute for Health Research Tranexamic acid for hyperacute spontaneous IntraCerebral Haemorrhage (TICH-3), NIHR129917.
Qualifications and skills
* MBBS or equivalent and GMC registered (including current licence to practice); MRCP membership.
* Demonstrable interest in medical research and ability to engage in a range of research activities including human volunteer and clinical stroke studies.
* Experience in data analysis (including systematic review and meta-analysis), scientific writing, and grant applications for future studies.
* Ability to work within NIHR Portfolio trials and to contribute to the research outputs of the unit.
You will be able to explore a wide range of research skills including data analysis, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and preparing grant applications for future studies. You will experience clinical trial recruitment into NIHR Portfolio adopted clinical trials within the stroke service; the unit has an excellent track record in clinical research and participates in a range of clinical trials.
Further opportunities and training
* Develop your own research interests within intracerebral haemorrhage and pursue work towards a higher degree (PhD/DM). Applications for funding and doctoral fees are supported but not included in this post.
* PhD/DM training is offered through the School of Medicine with close supervision and the N-TRANS course for medically qualified graduates involved in translational research.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 July 2028.
