Overview
You could be pricing incredible, landmark structures projects situated in the heart of the capital... tenders that need innovative thinking and methodology. You'll have priced projects in London; schemes with enabling works, cut & carve, basements and RC works. Could be a newbuild concrete frame with a single basement, or maybe you've tendered for piling, groundworks or a cut & carve in London Bridge. It might be a huge single or double basement in W1. What about pulling all of this together and pricing a £30m to £50m project in somewhere like the city or the West End? Drawing on the experience in-house and putting in a tender to self-deliver these works under one roof? Locations with extremely high footfall and tubelines running everywhere?
Four/five storey basements, complex and sensitive facade retention and temporary works, strip out works to a heritage building, piling/groundworks on a compact footprint, logistical challenges with heavy construction traffic - this is the norm.
As an estimator, you'll no doubt learn new techniques after every tender. No two projects are in any way similar apart from the central London location. A chance to be involved in securing iconic, landmark projects. A reason to get the old grey matter whirring for sure!!
Responsibilities
* Pricing projects in London; schemes with enabling works, cut & carve, basements and RC works. May include newbuild concrete frame with a basement, piling, groundworks or a cut & carve in London Bridge.
* Assembling tender packages and pricing efforts across schemes with complex logistics and high footfall locations.
* Pulling together pricing for multi-element projects (e.g., £30m to £50m) and presenting a self-delivery tender under one roof.
* Engaging with in-house expertise to inform tender strategy and techniques for landmark projects.
* Working in a busy specialist contractor environment with a large order book and growing enquiries.
Checklist
1. Five plus years as an estimator pricing this kind of work
2. Cut & carve, basements, concrete works, piling, demolition, groundworks
3. Estimator or Senior Estimator, flexible based on your track record
4. Based in brilliant offices in central London
5. Busy specialist contractor with a large order book, well into 2027 confirmed, and a strong increase in enquiries (hence the need to expand the estimating team)
