The Vacancy
At Amplius, we're on a mission to deliver homes that make a difference. As a fresh and forward-focused social housing provider, we prioritise tenant safety, sustainability, and smart property investment.
In our Employers Agent role, you'll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team delivering our growing portfolio of new-build homes. You'll act as the commercial lead on your projects - managing contracts, budgets and risks from inception to completion, ensuring each scheme delivers value for money, quality and programme certainty.
Location: Hybrid - with travel to sites across the North region and 1 day per week in one of our Amplius offices (Peterborough, Lincoln or Boston)
Salary: Up to £55,000 per year
Contract: Permanent
Your week: 36.25 hours p/week (9am - 5.15pm Monday to Friday, with 1-hour lunch)
This is a site-focused role - most of your week will be spent out inspecting live projects, though we encourage a day in the office each week to connect with your team and share insights.
Snapshot of your role
This is what your day will look like as our Employers Agent:
* Act as Amplius' commercial lead on new-build projects, administering construction contracts and ensuring projects stay on budget, on programme, and on spec.
* Prepare and review contract documentation, valuations, and cost reports, ensuring all information is accurate and compliant.
* Advise the Land & New Business team on contract terms, specifications and any design risks at bid stage.
* Prepare and present Monthly Contract Monitoring Reports, identifying commercial, programme and quality risks - and ensuring mitigations are in place.
* Lead regular site meetings, providing updates, minutes and actions to all stakeholders.
* Support clients and contractors through handover and defects stages, including inspections, sign-offs and certificates.
* Review lessons learned post-completion to improve future project delivery and maintain our high standards.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships across Amplius, our partners, and contractors - acting as a trusted ambassador for the organisation.
Your toolkit for success
To thrive in our Employers Agent role, you'll need:
* Relevant experience in contract administration and commercial management of construction projects (preferably housing).
* Strong understanding of construction contracts, CDM and Building Safety Act regulations, and risk management.
* Highly organised with the ability to juggle competing priorities and work to deadlines.
* Skilled in assessing value for money and identifying abnormal costs.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with confident report-writing and stakeholder management.
* Analytical, adaptable and proactive - able to interpret data and make sound commercial judgements.
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools; experience preparing detailed commercial documentation is key.
Please note that having a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role to visit our customers.
