The Pendle Medical Partnership has a fantastic opportunity for a part-time clinical coder to join our team.
If you are highly organised, motivated, comfortable with technology, have experience of clinical coding using emis web, this is the role for you.
This is a 16 hour post per week, and the days can be negotiated to suit you and the needs of the practice team.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical coder, you will be reviewing electronic clinical letters, clinical e-mails, paper documentation and any other clinical correspondence. From these you will identify relevant clinical findings and code the documents appropriately and accurately in patient medical records.

We work from two sites - The Surgery at Earby, and Floor 2 within Colne Health Centre. As one of the largest practices in East Lancashire, we can offer an extensive range of services, enabling our patients to be cared for in the community, often avoiding the need for long waits for hospital services.
With 10 GPs, 7 experienced practice nurses, 2 Physician's Associates, our own pharmacist, Nurse Associates, GP Assistant, Health Care Assistants and Care Navigators/administrators with excellent knowledge of services in this area, we believe that we are well equipped to support you with your health and care needs.
Job responsibilities
* Using document management within the emis web clinical system, accurately code information from clinical letters.
* Scanning of patient related documentation and coding relevant information.
* Dealing with any follow up actions from the documents, such as arranging appointments or tests.
* Deal with safeguarding documentation.
* Responding to tasks sent in the clinical system.
* Process the clinical letters in accordance with the incoming post protocol.
* Liaise closely with other members of the administrative and wider practice team.
* Regular update and awareness of read code changes.
* Have awareness of GP contract requirements.
Person Specification
Experience
* Knowledge of the EMIS WEB clinical system.
* Coding experience needed or as a minimum, medical terminology or GP practice experience.
* Good keyboard and computer skills.
* Flexibility to cover for staff absences and annual leave.
* An understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality and data protection.
* Experience of working in a team setting.
