Overview
Cost Engineering Lead role at Jacobs, Peterborough, United Kingdom. Hybrid work environment and a 40-hour week. Ideally based in London or SE England. This position focuses on financial health of programmes, cost control, forecasting, and value optimization within major civil infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
* Ensure Compliance and Functional Direction: Adhere to Programme Controls Policy, Strategy, and Plan, and provide direction for Cost Engineering aligned with other PMO functions.
* Manage and Control Costs: Develop and improve Cost Management systems, ensuring accurate cost control, change and baseline management, and robust forecasting.
* Implement Earned Value Management (EVM): Establish project performance measurement using EVM and similar techniques to provide data-driven insights.
* Drive Risk and Change Management: Align risk and cost processes to support forecasts and proactively manage risk and change.
* Collaborate and Coordinate: Work with Cost Engineers and Control Account Managers to standardize Cost Management processes and support other Programme Controls functions.
* Manage Reporting and Interfaces: Ensure accurate cost reporting, manage interfaces with other functional leads, and support monthly Board reporting on cost matters.
Qualifications
* Significant experience in Cost Engineering with expertise in cost management methodologies and techniques.
* Knowledge of estimating, scheduling, and risk management; familiarity with NEC3/4 contracts; working knowledge of Project Control Systems; understanding of WBS and data structures.
* Strong client interface skills, with proficiency in report writing and presentations.
* Proactive, collaborative, goal-oriented, and resilient; able to anticipate issues, work with teams, set objectives, and maintain performance under pressure.
* A relevant degree and membership in professional associations such as RICS, ACostE, or CICES.

About the Opportunity

* Ensure accurate cost reporting and settle interfaces with other leads; support monthly cost-related Board reporting.
Requirements and Preferences
* Significant Cost Engineering experience; cost management methodologies expertise.
* Estimating, scheduling, risk management skills; NEC3/4 knowledge; experience with Project Control Systems; understanding of WBS.
* Strong client-facing communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
* Degree and professional membership (RICS, ACostE, CICES) preferred.
