Role Overview
Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Leave) commencing August 2026. Kingston College is seeking a Deputy Head of School to support the Head of School in leading and managing curriculum provision within the School of Creative Industries.
Responsibilities
* Deliver outstanding education and training across study programmes, adult learning and higher education.
* Ensure students achieve excellent outcomes, develop employability skills and progress into further study or employment.
* Contribute to the strategic and operational leadership of the College as a member of the School Management Group (SMG) and College Management Group (CMG).
* Support the implementation of College policies and procedures, including quality assurance, target setting, compliance, staff and student management.
* Improve programme performance through high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment, effective curriculum leadership, and monitoring and support of curriculum teams.
* Promote employability and progression opportunities through work experience and industry‑related learning.
* Lead and manage large teams including teachers, technicians and support staff at a senior level.
* Identify interventions for improvement and execute them with a demonstrable record of success.
* Conduct staff appraisal and training, and manage issues through relevant HR processes.
* Maintain high‑level information management skills and effectively use College systems.
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualifications.
* Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large teams at a senior level.
* Excellent understanding of Ofsted, OfS, awarding bodies and other relevant regulators.
* Strong knowledge of Government policy and emerging developments influencing the curriculum, particularly in relation to the local and regional economy.
* Demonstrable record of improving subjects/courses and achieving measurable improvement.
* Excellent staff appraisal and training skills.
* Experience with HR processes and exercising effective decision‑making.
* Highly developed information management skills and proven ability to use College systems.
