Job Title: Full-Time School Social Worker
Location: Chesterfield County School District, Chesterfield, South Carolina
Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:00 PM (37.5 hours/week)
Start & End Dates: July 16, 2025 June 5, 2026
Grade Levels: K12 (Placement and focus may vary depending on district needs)
----------------------------------- Position Summary
Chesterfield County School District is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable School Social Worker to serve a diverse population of students across K12 grade levels. This full-time, 10.5-month position supports students' academic, emotional, and behavioral development and bridges school, home, and community environments. The position also includes duties that may extend into areas typically assigned to school psychologists, such as assessments, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and manifestation determination reviews (MDRs).

----------------------------------- Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment and Evaluation
* Conduct social-emotional assessments and participate in multi-disciplinary evaluations as part of the special education process.
* Administer and assist with functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) to identify student needs and inform behavior intervention planning.
* Complete social history reports and provide documentation relevant to IEPs and eligibility determination.
Meetings and Collaboration
* Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, eligibility determination meetings, 504 meetings, and other student support team discussions.
* Participate in Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDRs), providing behavioral analysis and recommendations.
* Collaborate with school psychologists, counselors, teachers, administrators, and parents to support the holistic development of students.
Student Support and Intervention
* Provide short-term individual and group counseling services focused on academic, social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
* Develop and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) in coordination with student support teams.
* Serve as a liaison between school, family, and community agencies, assisting families in accessing external services as needed.
Documentation and Compliance
* Maintain detailed and timely records of all services provided, assessments completed, and meetings attended.
* Prepare legally compliant, high-quality reports and documentation for use in special education eligibility and ongoing service provision.
* Ensure that services and assessments comply with district, state, and federal regulations.
Additional Duties
* May be asked to assist with responsibilities typically handled by school psychologists, depending on district needs.
* Support crisis intervention and response protocols when required.
* Assist in developing preventative and supportive programming related to mental health, behavioral management, and school climate.
----------------------------------- Qualifications
* Education: Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
* Certification: Valid South Carolina School Social Work certification or eligibility.
* Experience: Prior experience in a K12 school setting is highly preferred, especially in special education and assessment roles.
* Knowledge: Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, MTSS/RTI processes, and behavioral intervention strategies.
* Skills: Excellent communication, analytical writing, and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask, work collaboratively across disciplines, and manage timelines effectively.
