Role Summary
The Technology department plays a pivotal role in this growth trajectory. As such, Marex is seeking an experienced and technically strong Enterprise Architect. This is a strategic role that will ensure Marex Technology remains a key enabler for continued and sustained growth across the firm.
Technology plays a pivotal role in this growth trajectory. Marex is seeking an experienced, technically strong Enterprise Architect with a proven software engineering, proven through a variety of hands-on delivery projects, ideally gained within financial services or technology sectors.
The successful candidate will shape and evolve Marex's Enterprise Architecture, reviewing enterprise-scale platforms and frameworks with particular focus on modern enterprise grade access security across the business, API‑led integration strategies, contemporary software architecture patterns, and centrally governed data management capabilities.
The role works in close partnership with business and engineering teams to design, develop implement and support technology solutions; administer a governed Citizen Development program; and accelerate enterprise-scale adoption of AI and AI agents through secure, orchestrated, and measurable tools and reusable services. The role also involves researching and evaluating emerging technologies and platforms to identify opportunities that deliver practical, high‑value outcomes.
Responsibilities
Define and enhance the target enterprise architecture and roadmap across business, application, integration, infrastructure, AI, data and security domains, ensuring alignment to Marex strategy and delivery priorities.
Review and assure enterprise-level platforms and frameworks; define reference architectures, software patterns, standards and reusable components that accelerate delivery and reduce risk.
Define and develop enterprise security architecture, including SSO/B2B/B2C, fine-grained access control, secrets and token patterns, and secure service-to-service authentication.
Define and own an architecture that leverages APIs as standardized building blocks for system integration and service delivery. Including integration strategy (API products, gateways, lifecycle governance and event/messaging patterns) to enable secure, scalable and reusable services across the firm.
Architect centrally governed data capabilities and access patterns, enabling trusted, secure and compliant use of shared data through governance, quality, lineage and entitlement-based controls.
Partner with business stakeholders to shape requirements and design pragmatic end-to-end solutions; support delivery teams through design, build and implementation, providing hands-on technical leadership when needed.
Establish architectural governance, decision records and measurable metrics (platform adoption, reuse, security posture and operational KPIs); lead enablement through workshops, training and coaching across Technology.
Run and govern the Citizen Development programme (low-code/no-code), defining guardrails, integration standards, environments and risk controls to enable safe self-service delivery.
Drive innovation through targeted R&D and technology scouting; lead enterprise AI and AI agent implementations with orchestration, safety controls, monitoring/evaluation and scalable operating models.

Skills, Experience And Competencies
Proven experience as an Enterprise / Software Architect (or equivalent) within financial services and/or large-scale technology organisations, with exposure to regulated environments and enterprise complexity.
Strong software engineering background with hands-on development and delivery experience, deep understanding of SDLC practices, and the ability to guide teams from design through implementation.
Deep expertise in enterprise security architecture with focus on modern authentication and authorization (e.g., federation/SSO/B2B/B2C, OAuth2/OpenID Connect/SAML, RBAC/ABAC, policy enforcement and secure service-to-service access).
Demonstrated ability to design and govern API-led software and integration architectures, including API standards, lifecycle management, platform selection and developer enablement.
Strong knowledge of modern software architecture patterns and best practices including the C4 model and EA tooling (e.g., modular design, event-driven patterns, resilience, performance, observability, testing and DevSecOps).
Experience architecting and evolving centralised data capabilities, including secure data access patterns, governance, quality/lineage and privacy-aware controls.
Experience designing and running a governed Citizen Development programme (low-code/no-code), balancing enablement with enterprise security, compliance, integration and supportability.
Strong AI and AI agent understanding with experience of enterprise AI capabilities in an orchestrated manner, including integration, controls/guardrails, monitoring and evaluation.
Experience researching, evaluating and implementing new technologies and platforms (PoCs, vendor assessment, risk/TCO analysis) and translating outcomes into scalable enterprise adoption.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to partner with the business, influence engineering teams and mentor architects and developers.
