Mental Health Clinical Advisor - Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire
Main responsibilities:
1. Provide urgent telephone triage assessment of patients.
2. Deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical care to patients in crisis by signposting to appropriate mental health teams and pathways.
3. Ensure accurate entry and documentation of records.
4. Offer calm, confident leadership in stressful situations, including de-escalation of distress and managing aggression or violence.
5. Serve as a resource for advice and support to team members.
6. Liaise with healthcare professionals, including paramedics, doctors, GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, social care professionals, and third sector organisations.
7. Support 999 call handlers in emergency call assessments when required.
8. Maintain awareness of safeguarding protocols and escalation procedures within the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
9. Provide signposting and facilitate access to community services, ensuring a patient-focused, accessible, and responsive service 24/7.
10. Respect team diversity and attend team meetings as needed.
11. Develop expertise in managing serious mental health cases, including suicide risk management.
12. Coordinate with other teams to ensure timely and quality service delivery.
13. Implement profession-specific interventions based on service user needs.
14. Seek continuous improvement in practice through CPD and innovative care delivery ideas.
15. Address areas of concern promptly and report to managers.
16. Stay updated on crisis and emergency services.
17. Participate in regular supervision as per policy.
18. Manage time and resources efficiently within constraints.
19. Practice within relevant professional guidelines (NMC, HCPC, Trust).
20. Contribute to service development by reducing call numbers and duration through effective signposting and triage.
21. Support management and contribute to service improvements for mental health crisis care.
This role requires dynamic decision-making, risk assessment, and continuous professional development to enhance patient outcomes and service efficiency.
