Job Title: Director of Operations – Community
Salary: Circa £80,000
Location: Birmingham on site 3/4 days pw
The Director of Operations – Community will have executive-level responsibility for the operational
performance, delivery, and development of the organisations community services.
The role will focus on strengthening operational systems, optimising workforce and scheduling models, and enabling service transformation to support growth, quality, and efficiency.
Main duties will include:
Operational Oversight
Provide senior operational leadership across community services, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
Directly manage the Head of Operations and Head of Scheduling, ensuring alignment between service delivery, capacity, and demand.
Maintain clear operational control across performance, quality, workforce, and financial metrics.
Systems & Transformation
Lead operational systems improvement, including scheduling, workforce utilisation, and service reporting.
Drive transformation initiatives to improve scalability, resilience, and consistency across regions.
Ensure operational processes support growth without compromising quality or patient experience.
Service Development
Support the design, mobilisation, and embedding of new community services and pathways.
Work with commercial and clinical teams to ensure services are operationally viable and sustainable.
Translate strategic growth plans into executable operational delivery.
Scheduling & Workforce Optimisation
Oversee scheduling strategy to maximise productivity, reduce waste, and improve patient access.
Ensure workforce models are fit for purpose and responsive to service demand.
Essential:
Senior operational leadership experience within community healthcare or large-scale service delivery.
Strong background in systems improvement and transformation.
Proven experience of developing and operationalising new services.
Ability to lead and influence at senior leadership level.
Strong analytical, organisational, and performance management skills.
Desirable:
Experience overseeing scheduling or workforce optimisation functions.
Experience working with NHS community contracts.
Change management or transformation credentials.
