Who are we?
Budwood, a part of Polaris Community, are a local business providing Residential Care and Support to children and young adults with emotional behavioural difficulties as well as social and emotional mental health. Our young people here may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, and the aim of the service is to provide them with a stable, comfortable home. They will receive high levels of support and guidance to keep them safe, as well as guidance to enable them to learn new skills for a successful transition to independence and adulthood.
We are looking for passionate Residential Support Workers to join one of our homes in Southampton on a casual basis, covering shifts as needed. This opportunity offers flexibility to work the hours you can commit to, with no contractual obligation. You will be part of a team providing flexible, individual care packages for our children and young adults. Working for Budwood, you will join a supportive and collaborative team that recognizes you as an individual. All staff are trained in ‘Developmental Trauma’ and therapeutic parenting to help you provide the best support possible.

Main Duties and Requirements:
* Experience working with children and young people, with understanding of issues faced by young people in care
* Flexibility to cover sicknesses, annual leave, and various shifts, including sleep-in shifts as needed
* Promoting, safeguarding, and protecting the welfare of our young people
* Establishing and maintaining positive, trusting relationships with young people
* Ability to work well as part of a team and accept guidance
* Encouraging development of young people's individual interests
* Hold or be willing to work towards a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce NVQ Level in Health & Social Care, or equivalent (not essential but desirable)
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car, as travel is involved
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Willingness to learn
* Ability to work well in a small team
* Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check, paid for by us
* Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work is advantageous
