Role Description
This is a full-time permanent role for a Lead Engineer (Compression), based in Wallyford. With flexible working patterns.
Key responsibilities include leading the design and development of hydrogen compressor products. System design from first principles through to manufacture to achieve unparalleled reliability cost consciously.
Duties
• Lead and take ownership of product design from system modelling through to manufacture.
• Manage the product development projects including internal and external stakeholder communications/reporting.
• Primary focus on the development and standardisation of our hydrogen compression product, however there will be opportunity to work on other projects, including but not limited to refuelling and fuel cell systems.
• First-principles thermodynamic modelling
• Responsible for the technical and financial.
• Management of entire product lifecycle.
• Take part in HAZOPs and contribute to LOPA's.
• Contribute to the learning and development of more our more junior engineering talent.
• Deliver training to production, field service and sales teams.
• Work alongside Mechanical, Electrical, Process and Controls design engineers to support the complete system design.
• Preparation of part specifications and vetting of manufacturing partners.
• Lead the drafting of supporting documentation, Manual, Datasheet etc.
• Maintain the product PED, Machinery Directive, Risk Assessment and certification system
• Lead the products through Individual inspections, type approvals and CE certification.

Experience
Required
• Numerical simulation (MATLAB/Octave)
• 2D drawing proficiency: standards, dimensioning, materials.
• Solid understanding of procurement and manufacturing stages of a design lifecycle
• Experience Mechanical / Systems Engineering Manufacture read level design
• Compression / Fluid System Experience
• Previously led PED, MD and CE Certification Experience
• Demonstrable Technical Leadership
• Manufacturing / machining and fabrication knowledge
• MRP and BoM Handling experience
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Desirable
• CAD proficiency in 3D and 2D
• Ideally you will be degree qualified in Mechanical/Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Status is desirable, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Experience of designing P&ID.
• Experience in Autodesk Inventor
• Configuration Engineering (CAD)
• Production of manufacturing drawings
