We're looking for an experienced and proactive Assistant Project Manager to help deliver an exciting new city-wide initiative: the Birmingham Student Safety Consortium.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in establishing a multi-agency partnership focused on improving student safety and financial wellbeing across Birmingham. Working with partners including local authorities, transport providers, police and community organisations, you’ll support the development, coordination and delivery of this high-impact project.
This is a 12-month fixed-term role, with the potential to become permanent subject to the success of the project and securing ongoing funding.
The role
You’ll work closely with the Project Manager to support delivery of the consortium from set‑up through to implementation and future planning.
This will include:
* Supporting the development and delivery of a new city-wide partnership project
* Managing project plans, timelines and reporting processes
* Coordinating stakeholder engagement across a wide range of partners
* Supporting governance, meetings and decision‑making processes
* Identifying funding opportunities and supporting grant applications
* Monitoring performance, impact and project outcomes
* Contributing to planning for the long-term future of the consortium
This is a varied, fast‑paced role where no two days are the same. You’ll be working across teams, organisations and communities to help create meaningful change for students.
Who we're looking for
We’re looking for someone who is already operating at Assistant/Associate Project Manager level and can confidently manage delivery within a structured project environment.
The successful candidate will bring:
* Experience supporting or delivering projects across the full lifecycle
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Confidence working with a range of stakeholders and building relationships
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and engage others
* Experience using digital tools to support project delivery and reporting
* A proactive approach and the ability to work independently within a team
* Experience working in partnerships, community projects, higher education or the public/charity sector would be beneficial.

Job type
Fixed term, full time contract for 12 months, with possibility of becoming permanent. 35 hours per week.
There is a strong intention for the role to continue on a permanent basis, subject to the successful delivery of the project and securing future funding.

£33,449 - £36,900 (Grade D). The successful candidate will be appointed at the start of this grade.
