Job Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Bookkeeper & Payroll Officer to assist in the bookkeeping and payroll departments. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in accountancy and experience with recognised accounting software.
Duties - Payroll
* Process employee wages and salaries accurately using recognised accounting
* Manage payroll data entry, including hours worked, overtime, deductions, and bonuses
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to tax, National Insurance contributions, and other deductions
* Maintain comprehensive payroll records and prepare reports for management review
* Reconcile payroll accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly
* Stay updated on changes in legislation affecting payroll processing and implement necessary adjustments
Duties - Bookkeeper
* Reconcile bank statements and accounts
* Submit VAT returns
Experience
* Proven experience in an accountancy practise using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Xero
* Strong understanding of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and statutory compliance in the UK
* Experience managing accounts payable is desirable
* Proficiency in using accounting software packages and MS Office applications
* Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
* Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally
