An exciting opportunity has become available in the Rheumatology Day Unit. This unit provides a service for a number of patients who come under the umbrella of Rheumatology and require I.V treatment for various conditions; Rheumatoid arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Lupus, Osteoporosis etc.

The majority of Rheumatology patients coming into the day unit receive biologic or biosimilar drugs, we also treat patients from other specialties with these drugs, mainly Gastroenterology patients with Crohns/Colitis. We administer cytotoxic chemotherapy for Rheumatology vasculitis patients and other specialty patients requiring this treatment. We also treat a great number of Neurology patients for conditions such as M.S, Multifocal Motor Neuropathy, Chronic de-myelinating poly-neuropathy. The trained staff in the day unit also oversee and maintain the smooth running of our busy out-patient area.

The unit are a small welcoming team, who work closely with their Consultant Base, providing a patient centred service.

The day unit works on a Monday to Friday basis 07:30 -18:00

To maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Sister, to support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate health care service.

To increase knowledge of biologic or biosimilar drugs, from mixed specialties

Job responsibilities

1. Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence.

2. To have successfully completed the Trusts preceptorship programme.

3. Maintain a high standard of nursing care applying evidence-based practice.

4. Carry out assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care without supervision.

5. Carry out the daily personal care of patients.

6. Maintain accurate records of all care given.

7. Update patient administration systems e.g. PAS to ensure real time data collection and confidentiality.

8. To effectively use information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trusts Cyber Code of Conduct.

9. To maintain confidentiality of information (written, verbal, electronic), whilst being aware of the Freedom for Information Act.

10. To promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team.

11. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers, significant others, the multi-disciplinary team and support services.

Please note that this advertised position, which is part of occupation code 2237 does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa. The Trust would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC Register


Experience

* Recent experience of nursing in an acute hospital environment
* Knowledge/experience of relevant speciality


Skills

* Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
* Competency in clinical skills including enhanced practice relevant to the level of experience and clinical area
* Ability to maintain high standards of care
* Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence

£31,049 to £37,796 a yearper annum, pro rata
