Mental Health Assistant / Teaching Assistant - Wokingham
An outstanding specialist school for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs based in Wokingham, Berkshire is looking for a bright and enthusiastic Graduate to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with behaviour and mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities
* Support children with behaviour and mental health issues in a primary phase setting.
* Assist teachers, trained therapists, counsellors, and psychologists with classroom and therapeutic activities.
* Use initiative and adapt plans to meet each child’s complex needs.
* Manage challenging behaviour with resilience and confidence.
* Participate in supervision, shadow sessions, and mentorship to develop skills.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology, or other relevant subjects (Level 3 qualifications+). A degree is most desirable.
* Experience working with SEN children or adults, or in related settings.
* Proactive, adaptable, enthusiastic and open‑minded.
* Passion for supporting children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs.
Working Hours & Pay
Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8.30 am – 3.00 pm. £90–£110 per day.
Location
Wokingham, Berkshire.
