Job Description
Applications will only be considered for this position with the submission of a cover letter.
We’re looking for Trainee Sleep Coaches to join our growing Sleepstation team here at Born Digital Health (www.sleepstation.org.uk).
We’re helping shape the future of digital health. We believe that no-one should suffer from treatable conditions and we’ve proven that our digital service can provide fast, effective, reliable and accessible support at scale. Sleep plays a vital role in good health and wellbeing throughout your life and we are working to ensure that no-one is left to tackle these problems alone.
Sleep coaches provide daily text-based support and encouragement to service users via our secure and confidential messaging system. They help people to understand and implement effective strategies to improve their sleep. They work to understand the problems each person is experiencing so that they can help them to tailor evidence-based techniques to meet their needs and circumstances. They also keep in touch with users, monitoring their progress while they work their way through our online support programmes, checking in with them at regular intervals (including after therapy) to help people get their sleep back on track and maintain good sleep over time.
As a trainee sleep coach, you’ll work alongside experienced sleep coaches and our wider support team, providing personalised support to the people who use Sleepstation.
While experience working in healthcare settings or in a support or coaching role would be preferred, it is not essential as full training and ongoing supervision will be provided. Our personalised support is what sets Sleepstation apart, and you’ll be directly making a difference to the lives of many people through this role.
Responsibilities
* Support users through an online system and respond to queries.
* Review user information and feedback; gather insights and work with the team to plan appropriate responses.
* Provide information and behavioural guidance on sleep and wellbeing, following set protocols.
* Review user progress and escalate queries or concerns internally when needed.
* Work within your competence and refer to others as appropriate.
* Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by your manager/s.
After training, you can progress to Sleep Coach with higher pay and responsibilities, plus further growth opportunities.
Requirements
* Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication.
* Ability to manage workload independently and collaborate in a team.
* Empathetic and passionate about making a positive impact.
* Strong IT skills and confidence using online systems.
* Excellent time management and adaptability.
* Calm under pressure and flexible in problem-solving.
* Willingness to learn and develop in the role.
Why join the Sleepstation Team
We work with purpose
We value impact over activity. You won’t see us focus on the time spent on a task, we aren’t pre-occupied with being busy, we’re focused on being effective.
We’re improving lives
The positive change that we make to the lives of the individuals that we support is what drives us. We share credit and acknowledge the work of others in delivering our impact. When you experience this every day, you’ll find it drives you too.
We stay balanced
We make time for the things and people we love. Workaholics aren't heroes here. We don’t expect you to spend your life at your desk. Everyone enjoys a very generous holiday package. We’re remote-first but we also have an office on the quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne where we meet to collaborate and socialise.
We care and we listen
We are positive. We don’t complain about what’s gone wrong, we work to put it right, together. We treat people equally and we value each person’s opinion and view points. Be willing to challenge and be prepared to be challenged.
We put people first
We’ve created a workplace that we’re proud to work in. Our people-first mentality is there to see in what we do and how we do it, every single day.
There are no “top dogs” here
We work together openly and honestly, with respect for others. We appreciate the individual and we invest in your wellbeing. We’ll celebrate with you through the highs and we support each other through any lows.
We’re here to share success
We reach our goals through real team effort and we’re committed to rewarding input, loyalty and impact. We’ve already achieved a lot, but there’s so much more we could do together.
