Electrical Assembly & Test Technician
D C Norris is a global leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke food processing systems. We are seeking a capable and versatile Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to support the build and test of complex industrial machinery. This hands-on role focuses on complete machine wiring, functional testing, and assistance with general electrical works around the site. The position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of electrical systems and a practical, solutions-based mindset.
Responsibilities:
* Wire and connect complete electrical systems across machinery, including sensors, motors, actuators, and interconnects
* Carry out functional testing, I/O checks, and basic fault-finding prior to commissioning phase
Assist in verifying signal paths and validating safe operation before software upload or HMI integration
* Read and work from electrical schematics, layout drawings, and structured BOMs
Support electrical installation tasks around the factory, including lighting circuits, distribution boards, and equipment upgrades
* Assist in new machinery installations and electrical improvement projects within production areas
* Collaborate with other departments during machine build, including routing, alignment, and system integration activities
* Maintain clear, safe working practices while delivering consistent, professional-quality builds
Skills & Experience Required:
* Solid background in machine wiring or industrial electrical assembly
* Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and wiring documentation
* Practical experience with a range of control devices, drives, sensors, and motors (including DOL and VFD configurations)
* Confident in identifying and resolving electrical faults during build and test
* Flexible in adapting between workshop build tasks and on-site electrical support work
* Positive attitude, good team working skills, and attention to workmanship quality
Desirable Qualifications / Experience:
* Electrical installation experience (industrial, commercial, or domestic)
* Recognised qualifications such as 18th Edition or equivalent
* Exposure to automation systems, PLC/HMI architecture, or drive commissioning tools
* Background in food machinery, process equipment, or OEM manufacturing environments

Additional Details
You would be contracted to work 39 hours per week, Monday – Friday with a 10-minute break 10.00 am - 10.10 am, and ½ hour lunch break 1.00 pm - 1.30 pm.
Working Hours:
Monday 7.30 am - 1.00 pm / 1.30 pm - 4.00 pm
Tuesday 7.30 am - 1.00 pm / 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm
Wednesday/Thursday 7.30 am - 1.00 pm / 1.30 pm - 5.00 pm
Friday 7.30 am - 12 noon (unless working overtime).
Overtime is generally available and paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. It is expected that a reasonable amount of overtime be worked as requested by Supervisor or Manager.
