Job Overview
Night Shift Engineer – Cranswick Country Foods Fresh Poultry, Eye, Suffolk. Responsible for ensuring all machinery operates correctly to maintain smooth production run.
Shift Pattern
4 on 4 off – 17:30 to 05:30
Responsibilities
* Safely carry out all tasks assigned by engineering management.
* Share knowledge and learn from the team, ensuring PPMs, maintenance, breakdowns, and all work are carried out timely and safely, maintaining production uptime and recording as required.
* Assist the shift manager in developing specifications, work instructions, and procedures for staff, and in controlling workshop spares.
* Maintain Good Manufacturing Practice; complete all planned and unplanned maintenance work orders, auditable paperwork, and ensure accuracy.
* Demonstrate a proactive approach to maintenance and help develop preventative maintenance mechanisms.
* Communicate effectively between cross‑functional teams and ensure successful shift handovers, supporting a quality culture and proactive approach to quality issues.
* Create and review method statements and risk assessments, and develop and implement effective maintenance routines.
Qualifications
* Experience in engineering, ideally in an FMCG environment.
* Combination of mechanical and electrical engineering skills and experience.
* Group and site induction, review of relevant risk assessments and safe working procedures.
* Understanding and application of hazard identification and near‑miss reporting.
* Accident investigation and root‑cause analysis training.
* Level 3 Health & Safety awareness.
* Understanding and application of line safety inspections.
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical or multi‑skilled).
