Are you an experienced chef ready to lead in a meaningful, people-focused environment? Do you excel at delivering high-quality meals while guiding a team and shaping a service that makes a difference? We are looking for a passionate and proactive Chef to join our Independent Living team. As a senior kitchen professional on-site, you'll lead daily operations, mentor staff, and ensure a first-class dining experience for our residents.
This role offers a fulfilling culinary career with a consistent daytime schedule, giving you your evenings back. While primarily Monday to Friday, flexibility to support weekend cover when needed is required.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Leading the kitchen team to deliver nutritious, seasonal meals meeting various dietary needs
* Creating menus reflecting resident preferences, cultural diversity, and dietary requirements
* Managing food budgets, stock, and supplier relationships
* Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations (including HACCP and COSHH)
* Upholding a 5-star EHO rating through due diligence practices
* Supporting and developing kitchen staff to maintain high service standards
* Monitoring kitchen equipment and cleanliness for safe, efficient operations
What You Bring:
* A passion for food and a commitment to excellence
* Strong leadership skills to organise, delegate, and lead from the front
* Understanding of food allergens and safe management
* Experience in catering, preferably in care, community, or Independent Living settings
* A proactive, detail-oriented approach
* Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above); Intermediate/Advanced is desirable
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Knowledge of kitchen due diligence and food safety practices
