This is an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our establishedteam and play an essential role for the Clay Cross Medical Centre bycomplementing Clinical Pharmacists, Practice nurses, GPs, and administrative teams.

Pharmacy Technicianscan lead on medicines expertise and enable the Pharmacists to concentrate onclinical decision making. Core role responsibilities will cover clinical,technical and administrative categories.


Main duties of the job

Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients.

Synchronising medicines for patient transfers between care settings, linking with local community pharmacies.

Provide expertise to address both, the public health and social care needs of patients, including lifestyle advice, service information, and help in tackling local health inequalities.

Manages shared care protocols and liaise with Clinical Pharmacists for more complex patients.


Technical and Administrative

Lead on clinical searches and monitoring of data.

Contribute to the design and delivery of patient questionnaires or pre-review resources to refine the system for medication reviews.

Collate and filter information from the patient to be documented on the clinical system or escalated to a Clinical pharmacist or other relevant clinician in the practice, if appropriate.

Streamlining general prescription requests, to allow GPs and clinical pharmacists to review the more clinically complex requests.

Support the implementation of local and national prescribing policies and guidance within practice, care homes and other primary care settings.

Support to deliver on contractual agenda, support Practices with QOF and locally commissioned enhanced services.


About us

We are a well‑organised stable team and currently boast a GP Principal, 1 salaried GP (part time), 2 ANPs, 3 (wte) Practice Nurses, 2 HCA. The management of the business is led by the Practice Manager with excellent practice administration support from the Care Co‑ordinator, Senior administrator and 12 part‑time receptionists admin staff. We have excellent working relationships with the wider healthcare community, including the local District Nursing team, PCN practices, Medicines Management Team, Palliative Care Services, local care homes etc. We are lucky to have the support of an excellent Community Matron.

Knowledge and Skills

* Understanding of local and national guidelines
* Thorough understanding of GDPR

Experience

* Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in General practice, Medicines management, community or hospital pharmacy.
* Experience of participating in a multi‑professional team
* Experience of implementation of best practice and service improvement
* Experience of clinical leadership
* Protocol writing experience.
* Experience of working in Primary Care
* Experience of clinical audit and quality improvement


Qualifications

* Mandatory registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
* BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
* Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
* Accuracy Checking Technician Accreditation or equivalent
* CPPE Pathway
