Overview

This is a temporary contract role until February 2026 for an Admin officer's role with an immediate start date (Compliance dependant) for a potential 4 month duration with a possible extension offering a 5 day work setting and a London location (Wandsworth). This role is for Clerk to the Designated Circuit Judge (DCJ) and requires specific qualities.


Contract details

* Salary: £14.75 per hour
* Location: South London (Wandsworth)
* 5 days' work setting
* Temporary contract until February 2026


Key Responsibilities

* Administration: Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings; producing court/tribunal documents; general photocopying and filing; creating and updating records on in-house computer system and data input; post opening and dispatch; preparing court rooms.
* Drafting: Standard letters and correspondence, minutes, notes, reports, submissions etc., according to guidelines and instructions.
* Operations: Clerking civil and family courts, tribunals and hearings, ensuring papers & materials are available/up to date; assisting court users, supporting listing and rota management, checking files; contacting relevant parties, scheduling, serving court documents, executing warrants, collecting fines and fees; handling counter (face to face), written and telephone enquiries; working as a team to ensure TIB (Team Information Board) meetings are relevant, timely and productive.
* Processing Casework: Managing the DCJ's diary, listing cases as needed and sending out hearing notices, including standard documentation and information, court orders, claims, fines and fees, legal aid; ensuring accuracy of court files; working to workload targets for throughput and accuracy.
* Checking and Verifying: Documents, records, accounts, claims and returns for approval against criteria, regulations or procedures; ensuring compliance and administration documentation meet quality standards.
* Collecting and Assembling Information: Interpreting source materials, preparing bundles, chasing; collecting/assembling information to prepare for and run the daily TIB meeting.
* Communicating with the Public, the Judiciary, other Court and Tribunal Users and Representatives of other Agencies and Organisations: Communicating with the Judiciary, Magistracy, Cluster Managers, court staff and internal/external stakeholders to collect information, check facts, communicate or enforce judicial decisions; delivering a helpful, prompt, polite and right-first-time service to internal and external customers.
* Other Duties: The post holder is expected to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility.


Essential Skills & Criteria

* Strong customer focus and service skills
* Experience in an administrative role in a customer-focused environment
* Proficient with IT and Microsoft Software packages
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Other duties as required.
