National Account Manager
Peterlee (4 days office / 1 day WFH - flexibility offered)
£45, - £60, DOE + 5% bonus

The Opportunity
Office Angels are recruiting on behalf of a well-established FMCG organisation for a National Account Manager to join their Commercial team. This is a commercially structured National Account Manager role, combining external customer ownership with strong internal commercial execution, data accuracy, and structured reporting.
You will be responsible for managing key national retail and wholesale accounts, delivering profitable growth, and leading senior-level commercial discussions, while also operating within a highly structured internal environment where accurate data, forecasting, and commercial reporting are critical to success.
Commercial Structure
This role sits within a structured three-part commercial model, working alongside a Commercial Controller who oversees internal pricing strategy, margin governance, and commercial approvals, and a Commercial Manager who manages supplier relationships, cost base, and supply-side commercial negotiations. The National Account Manager (this role) is responsible for external customer relationships, negotiations, and account performance, working collaboratively across all internal functions to ensure aligned and profitable commercial execution. This role has no direct reports.
Role Focus
This is a commercially driven National Account Manager role with a strong emphasis on structured internal commercial execution alongside external customer leadership.

4. Forecasting and demand planning support
5. High-level stakeholder engagement
Key Responsibilities
National Account Ownership
6. Manage and develop key national retail and wholesale customer relationships
7. Act as the main commercial contact for assigned accounts
8. Build and maintain long-term strategic partnerships
Commercial Negotiation & Delivery
9. Lead external commercial discussions including pricing, CPI challenges, service issues, and trading performance
10. Negotiate trading terms and customer agreements within internal governance frameworks
11. Deliver profitable growth across assigned accounts
12. Represent the business in senior customer meetings and negotiations
Data, Systems & Commercial Reporting
13. Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and account data within CRM systems
14. Use Excel and reporting tools to analyse sales performance, margin, and trends
15. Produce regular commercial reporting to support decision-making
16. Support forecasting and demand planning processes
17. Ensure high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and governance across all systems
18. This role requires strong confidence working within structured commercial systems and processes
Account Planning & Growth
19. Develop and deliver Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with key customers
20. Identify growth opportunities across distribution, NPD, and promotional activity
21. Monitor account performance against revenue, volume, and margin targets
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
22. Proven experience in National Account Management or key account roles within FMCG / retail / wholesale
23. Strong commercial acumen (pricing, margin, trade spend)
24. Confident managing senior customer negotiations and CPI discussions
25. Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel capability
26. Experience using CRM systems as part of day-to-day account management
27. Ability to interpret data and translate insight into action
28. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
29. Experience working within structured, process-driven commercial environments
Important Information
Please note there is no company car or car allowance included in this package. A pool car is available on-site, and mileage for business travel using your own vehicle will be reimbursed in line with company policy. Travel for customer visits are typically required approximately once a fortnight, depending on business needs.
