Purpose of the Role
Responsible execution of work plans for their protein science area. Accountable for delivery from early drug discovery workflows in their area of expertise.
Key Accountabilities
1. Execution of approved work plans in early drug discovery projects.
2. Provide recommendations for improving Workplans for review and approved by Grade 5 or above
3. Responsible for supporting more than one project across modalities and therapeutic areas
4. Will be expected to deliver timely, accurate results of pre-agreed quality to project specifications.
5. May conduct some data analysis ahead of internal review prior to release to internal or external customers.
Knowledge & Experience
6. Technical knowledge of Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Biophysics with a proven ability to deliver results across target families within agreed timelines and budget, meeting agreed quality criteria.
7. Design, clone, and optimise expression constructs for recombinant protein production in, insect (Baculovirus and S2), and mammalian systems.
8. Execute small‑ to large‑scale expression experiments to maximise yield, solubility, and functionality.
9. Assess quality via SDS‑PAGE, Western blot, and related analytics.
10. Troubleshoot complex expression challenges with creative, data‑driven solutions.
11. Understanding of scientific and technical background of experiments.
12. Experience of precise execution of workplans.
13. Expected to have some independence, making day-to-day technical decisions
14. Expected to follow training provided on the correct use and maintenance of lab. equipment
Education and Qualifications
15. PhD or a Degree with corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline ideally with relevant experience within industry.

Benefits Package
16. Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution, and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
