* Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Woking and provide senior medical cover on George Willard Ward, our 12 bed male mental health acute service & Kahlo Ward, our 11 bed female mental health acute service (please note the postholder will look after only 6 patients on this ward).
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.
The services provide a safe and stabilising environment for men who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.
The ethos of our service is about assessing and treating service users in the least restrictive environment and planning for discharge in a robust and timely fashion. With a focus on stabilisation, we will support service users to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for independent life back in the community.
Our team will work closely and collaboratively with service users, their families and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge. Our approach is recovery focused and supported by a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team, contributing to shorter lengths of stay.
In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist.

Main duties and Responsibilities…
1. Lead on the provision of high quality care to the service users admitted to George Willard & Kahlo wards
2. Act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.
3. Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team
4. Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
5. Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
6. Conduct ward rounds, patient reviews & clinical audits
7. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance within the service
8. Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers’ hearings & attend hearings
9. Liaise with the Ministry of Justice for
