Job Summary: Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for Band 3 Clinical Support Workers to work in our teams in Macclesfield. New entrants to the NHS, please be advised that this role is not eligible for sponsorship.
These are exciting times for Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Our services consist of the following specialist inpatient areas: Mulberry Ward (a 26 bed acute admissions ward) and Silk Ward (a 15 bed dementia ward aged 18-65). All areas have a successful structure of MDT working and you will be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team with an ethos of collaborative working between individual service users, carers and other stakeholders. We aim to provide high quality, safe services which improve health, well-being and independence of the people within our locality. The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage hourly rate and will apply a pay supplement if the national A4C hourly rate falls below this.
The interview process is a face to face, values based clinical assessment centre on 2nd March 2026.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for motivated support workers to join our team. You should have commitment to team working and excellent standards of care. You will be able to demonstrate a real enthusiasm for mental health care. Applicants should have some experience of working with people with mental health conditions, dementia, intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder and demonstrate compassion and optimism for rehabilitation and recovery, as well as a desire for ongoing professional development. You will receive excellent training opportunities for clinical development and regular supervision and appraisal. All wards offer a 24-hour service; therefore, successful candidates must be able to work a full range of 12 hour shifts including night shifts and weekends. All new starters will commence in post on one fixed start date each month, in line with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme date. Person Specification
Essential
* Appropriate Mental Health related NVQ level 2.
* Will work towards the appropriate mental health related NVQ level 3 once in post or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrate a range of work procedures and base level of theoretical knowledge.
* Completion of or working towards Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 3 months of start date).
Desirable
* NVQ qualifications in Health and Social Care or other related disciplines.
Knowledge & Expertise
Essential
* Understanding of CWP and mental health services, and the Trusts role within the health economy.
* Understanding of confidentiality as it relates to mental health policy and practice interventions.
* Knowledge of current staff development and continuous service improvement issues, particularly in adult mental health services.
* Knowledge of CWP observation policy.
Desirable
* Knowledge of mental health legislation and policies.
Experience
Essential
* Previous experience of providing care in a structured setting.
* Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues, wider teams and service users, etc.

* Previous experience of working with adults with severe mental health needs.
