Overview
Craft Attendant Jointer role at Alternative Networks (now part of Daisy Group). This craft attendant jointer will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Borehamwood office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.
Salary: £35,158 with a 3% bonus. Close Date: 03/09/2025. Training and medical/DBS reference checks may be required if successful.
Job Purpose
You will assist the Jointer in excavating and completing faults repairs, network alterations and new connection work on the LV/HV distribution network. This includes assisting in restoration of LV supplies as part of fault work and system emergencies. You will observe work in progress to ensure correct procedures, PPE and safe working practices are followed.
Please note that a vehicle is not supplied with this role.
Principal Accountabilities
* Observe all work on live LV apparatus with exposed conductors.
* Ensure safe use of equipment following health & safety procedures and network standards; ensure colleagues on site wear the relevant PPE.
* Deterrence of public distraction during live work; display "Do Not Disturb" signs as required.
* Set up equipment for the Jointer, prepare work, lay out tools and provide the vehicle to enable tasks to be carried out.
* Assist the Jointer when performing work on live 240/415 V apparatus, following safety procedures.
* Use IT equipment such as Field Force Enablement (FFE) for electronic job issuing.
* Dig and help excavate holes safely; liaise with external contractors as needed.
* Support the Jointer with risk assessments and liaise with Field Engineer.
* Undertake standby duties and system emergency storm roles in line with network standards and safety requirements.
Qualifications
* Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent.
* Have or be prepared to work towards a City & Guilds 2339 (formerly 232) certificate in Electrical Power Distribution (or similar).
* Experience on regional electricity networks is advantageous but not essential.
* Training at a centre for policy and health & safety; craft attendants learn on the job.
* Full UK driving licence required.
