Overview
Midlothian Council invites application for the post of Specialist Roads officer (Network Coordination). The post holder will be responsible for the control and monitoring of operations within or affecting the public road and transport network. The role requires maintaining the quality and standards in road maintenance and related infrastructure in accordance with the necessary legislative framework and relevant codes of practice. Responsibilities
* Control and monitor operations within or affecting the public road and transport network.
* Maintain quality and standards for road maintenance and related infrastructure in line with relevant legislation and codes of practice.
* Provide reports on public liability claims and adopt a preventative approach to minimising claim levels.
Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant HND level qualification or equivalent experience in roads construction and maintenance.
* Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with the public, contractors and Public Utilities.
* Knowledge of Civil Engineering, Specifications and Legislation related to Roads and Transportation.
* Familiarity with the SRWR system for monitoring activity within the road network and related infrastructure.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills to respond to customer enquiries; IT skills with working knowledge of Excel and Word; ability to manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines.
* Relevant SCQF Level 8 / HND or equivalent or demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies.
* IT literate and experienced in Microsoft software; able to adapt to service-specific software applications and suggest improvements.
* Full current UK driving licence.
* Operational knowledge of area of responsibility, relevant legislation, and Council policy to deliver services and make balanced judgements in tight timescales.
* Customer-focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
