Overview
Lincolnshire County Council is looking for an experienced leader to become the Head of the Lincolnshire Music Service. As the lead partner for the Lincolnshire Music Hub, you will support music provision in approximately 95% of schools in Lincolnshire, working with a highly skilled workforce of 80 instrumental tutors alongside a further 40 commissioned professionals and partner organisations. Through strong, trusted partnerships with schools, families and communities, you will champion the power of music to inspire, connect and transform the lives of all young people.
Key responsibilities
* Shape, develop and lead the future of music education in Lincolnshire, building on an established, high‑quality programme of services while driving innovation and growth.
* Support music provision across the county and coordinate the work of the workforce and partner organisations.
* Lead strategic planning and governance of the Music Service, ensuring it continues to thrive, innovate and make a meaningful difference for children and young people.
* Develop and maintain collaborative, outward‑facing relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, navigating change with creativity, resilience and clarity of purpose.
* Promote high‑quality, inclusive music provision, applying sound judgement, financial awareness and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications & experience
* Values‑driven, people‑focused leader with a deep understanding of music education.
* Strong track record of leadership within a music service, music hub, arts organisation or school.
* Ability to inspire, support and challenge others to deliver their best.
* Experience managing inclusive, high‑quality music provision and working with diverse teams.
* Excellent communication, financial and strategic management skills.
Working arrangements
Hybrid working, around three days per week office‑based at the Lincolnshire Music Service headquarters in Cherry Willingham. The office offers excellent facilities and parking. Some days may be worked from home.
Salary
Pay: Soulbury Scale from 16 to 20 plus 3 SPA points.
Contract type
Full‑time permanent.
Location
Hybrid: around three days per week office‑based.
