Hutcheon Mearns - Group Financial Controller
Hutcheon Mearns supports a dynamic and growing organisation in the manufacturing sector, seeking a Group Financial Controller for their Dundee business. The company is a £60 million turnover group with international entities and a diverse customer base, on a path of continued growth through acquisition. This role suits an individual with strong financial accounting skills, management experience, and ideally exposure to organisations with multiple entities.
The Opportunity
This newly created role offers the chance to lead financial reporting, compliance, and oversee financial operations. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, manage financial statements, coordinate audits, and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and prepare consolidated financial reports across multiple entities (UK and international), ensuring IFRS compliance.
* Ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing performance insights.
* Manage statutory reporting, tax filings, VAT returns, and liaise with external auditors.
* Lead financial operations, ensuring strong controls and efficient month-end/year-end processes.
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring, providing recommendations for performance improvement.
* Drive process enhancements, implementing improved financial processes and reporting tools.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.

About You
This role is ideal for a Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with experience in financial accounting within a group environment. Prior exposure to multi-national businesses is highly desirable, along with strong technical accounting skills and consolidation experience. Knowledge of tax regulations, VAT, and corporate tax compliance would also be advantageous.
This opportunity may suit a candidate transitioning from professional practice to industry, bringing valuable experience in accounts preparation and audit for group structures.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively to key stakeholders.
