Your role and responsibilities As a Young Persons Advisor, you will be responsible for building and maintaining positive, trusting relationships with young people and colleagues, while delivering high-quality, person-centred services that support their development. You will collaborate effectively with other professionals to ensure joined-up support, confidently navigate and apply relevant legislation in your practice, and manage complex cases with care, clarity, and resilience. Your role will also involve leading on Pathway Planning to support successful transitions to adulthood, and attending Case Conferences, CIC Reviews, and other key meetings to advocate for the needs and aspirations of young people. You will need Proven experience working professionally with young people, particularly those with complex needs and care leaver backgrounds. A compassionate, patient, and highly observant approach to supporting children and young adults. Strong communication skills, including the ability to interpret non-verbal cues and use alternative communication methods such as Makaton or Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS). A solid understanding of the challenges faced by care leavers and children with disabilities, including safeguarding concerns. Emotional resilience and a genuine passion for inclusive care and engagement. The ability to build trust and foster meaningful relationships with young people. Experience working in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) environments. A flexible and creative approach to problem-solving and engaging young people. Awareness and understanding of autism and how it may affect communication and behaviour. You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (docx).
