About the Role
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is seeking an experienced and compassionate Qualified Social Worker to join the Disabled Children’s Service on a short‑term basis. This is a non‑case‑holding role focused on conducting eligibility assessments for children with lifelong, substantial disabilities. You’ll be working within the 0–11 Team, which specialises in early intervention and works closely with families and key partners in health and education to deliver timely, effective support.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake eligibility assessments for ongoing support and intervention
* Collaborate with families, carers, and professionals to gather holistic information
* Apply statutory frameworks and best practice in assessing needs and risks
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to service planning
* Ensure assessments are child‑centred, strengths‑based, and timely
* Support the wider team in delivering high‑quality early intervention services
What We’re Looking For
Essential
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work (e.g. DipSW, BA/BSc/MA, CQSW)
* Registration with Social Care Wales
* Experience in statutory children’s services, particularly in disability or early intervention
* Strong assessment and analytical skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with families and multi‑agency teams
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Well‑being (Wales) Act
Desirable
* Experience in non‑case‑holding assessment roles
* Familiarity with eligibility criteria for children’s disability services
