What you'll be doing
As a Driver / Operator, you will be responsible for operating specialist on‑track plant (OTM) used to inspect and maintain the UK rail network. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable delivery of rail services.
This is a practical, varied role that combines driving, operating plant and carrying out basic maintenance, all within a strong safety‑first culture.
What you'll be doing
* Operating and maintaining specialist on‑track plant on behalf of our rail customers
* Carrying out minor maintenance and repairs to equipment
* Working safely within railway health and safety requirements
* Supporting delivery on high‑profile rail contracts as part of a dedicated team
* Adapting to changing plans and working flexibly across nights, weekends and bank holidays
* Representing Balfour Beatty professionally when working with customers and stakeholders
Who we're looking for
Essential:
* Experience operating on‑track plant or the ability and willingness to learn
* A good awareness of railway health and safety requirements
* A flexible approach to work and shift patterns
* Strong teamwork skills and a positive, can‑do attitude
* Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written
* A full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points
Desirable:
* Experience of railway operations and train operations
