Service/Ward/Department Summary: Mental Health Unit, Stockport where the Adult Mental Health Services are based to cover two wards ECT and outpatients. Role Summary: A full time, permanent job supporting the Stockport service. To work alongside one sector consultant psychiatrist and one senior trainee Key Responsibilities of the Post: To provide consistent and experienced medical input to the Stockport mental health services. Providing assessments and management of new referrals and follow up outpatient appointments and inpatient work. Key Requirements of the Person Specification: • MBBS or equivalent-essential. MRCPsych-desirable • Section 12 approval or willing to seek approval essential • Minimum of 2 years in Psychiatry. • Experience relevant to a modern community orientated adult psychiatry. • Experience of teaching and training. Person Specification EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS Essential • MBChB or equivalent • Section 12 approval or a willingness to seek approval Desirable • MRCPsych or equivalent • Registered as completed Higher Training with the Royal College of Psychiatrists • Progress towards additional Post Graduate Degree, such as Msc or MD. SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE Essential • Good Interpersonal and team working skills. Leadership skills. • Knowledge of relevant requirements and legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Care Programme Approach etc Desirable • An additional area of relevant special interest. Actively involved in continuing professional development EXPERIENCE Essential • A minimum of 4 years in Psychiatry at CT, ST or Staff Grade level at least 2 years of these should be in general adult psychiatry • Experience relevant to modern community orientated adult psychiatry. • Experience of teaching and training.
