This is a critical opportunity to identify product repairability improvements, streamline repair workflows, and implement engineered solutions that improve quality, reduce cost, and accelerate cycle time for Ciena’s advanced optical and routing platforms.
How You Will Contribute
1. Focus on project management and coordination cross functionally with Repair Operations teams, external partners, and engineering groups to resolve complex repair issue.
2. Help manage the end-to-end repair lifecycle for Ciena products.
3. Partner closely with Ciena Engineering teams to advance repair enablement, first pass evaluation (FPE) preparation, and continuous process improvements projects in the area of Repairs Operations.
4. Lead and manage Material Review Board (MRB) reduction initiatives that enable cost reduction opportunities and reduce lead times
5. Define, manage, and report on key operational metrics while identifying opportunities for improvement
6. Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within repair operations, leveraging data analysis and lean methodologies. Use data and analytics to surface systemic issues, recommend solutions, and implement corrective action plans
7. Champion engineering driven optimization across repair processes and materials flow
The Must Haves
8. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Industrial), Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
9. 10+ years of experience in product, manufacturing, or process engineering within high-tech, telecom, networking, or complex electronics environments
10. Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and driving operational improvements.
11. Strong understanding of repair processes, logistics, and quality control methodologies
12. Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
13. Applied knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and serviceability principles
14. Hands on experience with process optimization, Lean, Six Sigma, or 8D problem solving
15. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across global, cross functional teams
16. Ability to travel occasionally to repair depots, manufacturing sites, or supplier locations as required
Nice to Haves
17. Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline
18. Demonstrated ability to drive complex engineering projects from concept to execution
19. Knowledge of telecommunications hardware manufacturing or service environments
20. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
21. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
22. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
23. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
24. PMP certification or similar project management qualification is a plus
