Junior Sister / Charge Nurse – Band 6 (Chemotherapy & Apheresis)
Job Summary
We have vacancies for Band 6 nurses who are already experienced and chemotherapy competent. The role is nurse‑led, providing chemotherapy, supportive therapies and apheresis to patients with Haemato‑Oncology and solid cancer. On our spacious Cancer Treatment Unit you will rotate between the chemotherapy delivery area and the supportive area.
You will receive excellent training and development, and the opportunity to progress within your profession. We actively encourage our nurses and allied health professionals to take part in research projects and to work towards Masters and PhDs, providing dedicated support.
The unit is open Monday‑Friday and operates a mix of day shifts with a reduced patient load on weekends. Posts are available for both full‑time and part‑time staff.
In order to be shortlisted you must have completed a SACT course.
Main Duties
* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised, holistic patient care in partnership with the inter‑professional team.
* Act as a professional role model and clinical teacher, providing mentorship and supervision to nursing and non‑nursing staff.
* Take charge of the Day Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
* Perform the Clinic Nurse Role when required, coordinating prescriptions, blood tests and confirmations to ensure timely treatment production and dispensary.
